Tennis

The club has 6 composition courts and 2 all-weather hard courts. All 8 courts are lighted.  The courts are open every day for your enjoyment.   We have a full-time teaching staff as well as a ball machine and two practice walls. Jay White, a USPTA certified Tennis Professional, is our Director of Tennis and can answer any questions you may have about the facilities.  Jay's email is jwhite@ncsuclub.org.  The tennis office number is 828-3465.

The 2012 N.C. State University Club Summer Tennis & Sports Camp was a huge success.  The camp stretched over 11 weeks and we had over 400 campers learn to play tennis.  We look forward to a fun season with several teacher workday camps planned.

We are announcing the schedule and open enrollment for our 2013 School Year Teacher Workday, Vacation and Spring Break Tennis and Sports Camps.  These camps are a great way for your child to be physically active, socialize, get top professional instruction and have some fun too!  Enroll for one session.  Enroll for all!

Jay White - Director of Tennis, USPTA
Jay is a USPTA certified Tennis Professional with over 19 years of teaching experience.  He started in tennis during high school teaching at Kildaire Farms Racket & Swim Club in Cary.  Jay also taught the Cary Parks & Recreation programs for 3 years.  He was the Head Tennis Professional at Sunset Ridge Racket & Swim Club in Holly Springs for 9 years.  Jay played college tennis at N.C. State University and joined our club in 2004 as the Director of Tennis.  Jay teaches private lessons, team practices, group drills and clinics to adults and juniors and oversees all tennis operations at the club.

Dan Blum
Dan has computerized  some of our tennis program operations by creating  spreadsheet applications for tracking junior camp enrollments,  our racket stringing activity, and our ball machine club membership, etc.  This spring he created our online registration application for our juniors summer tennis & sports camp.   He has been helping string rackets at the club since 2006. Other projects have included the outside bulletin board renovation, the sprinkler valve cover, and setting up the ball machine shed and new cord winder.  Doing these part time tennis projects around the club is a retirement activity for Dan.

 John French--Tennis Pro

We are excited to announce that John French has joined the tennis staff at the N.C. State University Club as tennis professional.

John was the Director of Tennis at Westwood Swim and Tennis Club in Winston Salem and worked at Five Oaks in Durham, he brings experience maintaining clay courts.  John also runs various adult tournaments.  John previously worked at the N.C. State University Club as the Tennis Director from 1997-2003.

John has more than 30 years teaching experience and has had the privilege of working with Tennis Hall of Famers Don Budge, Harry Hopman, Ken Rosewall, and legendary Teaching Professional John Gardiner. 

John will be offering a variety of classes, clinics, private lessons, and team practices.
